oil and gas career:Senior Oil and Gas State Tax Advisor

Job Responsibilities:
* In this position, you will be responsible for providing State Direct Tax advice to Downstream and Upstream clients. Also responsible for State tax oversight of business operations in the US and any State tax implications of any cross border transactions.
* Ensure there is a process in place for compliance with the Tax Manual of Global Tax Standards in the area of responsibility assigned and reporting of any breaches thereof in accordance with established practices
* Participate in special tax projects, where applicable in accordance with TaxMap processes and play active part in the Tax community where required
* Support the development and implementation of standards and priority processes in accordance with the Tax Management Framework and Controls
* Take lead role in the implementation of global processes within the area of responsibility
* Act as the primary point of contact for US Downstream for designated areas under Dimensions
* Work with business stakeholders to develop and maintain a common agenda between Tax and the business(es)
* Provide knowledge and commercial context to tax work conducted by tax centre staff
* Identify work for assigned business(es)
* Communicate advice and recommendations to the business
* Structure advice projects to enable effective execution
* Understand and constructively challenge business requests while looking for additional business activities that may benefit from tax advice
* Network responsibilities with other similar focal points to establish and share best practice
* Represent Shell on US Downstream tax issues before governmental authorities and within industry and professional organizations concerning tax matters
* Senior Tax Advisor on the US Downstream and Upstream Advice Team
* State Direct Tax advisor to Downstream and Upstream clients, responsible for State tax oversight of business operations in the US and any State tax implications of any cross border transactions
* To deliver high value comprehensive, accurate, and timely direct tax advice for Downstream and Upstream in the US
* Work on other matters assigned where value and priorities dictate
Stakeholder – Communication Experience:
*Work with business stakeholders to develop and maintain a common agenda between Tax and the business(es)
*Gain and maintain the confidence of business management and operational staff, convincing same of the value of tax considerations in structuring and implementing business transactions
*Networking responsibilities with other similar focal points to establish and share best practice
*Act as the primary point of contact for U.S. Downstream for designated areas under Dimensions
*Interface with JV partners, so strong negotiating skills needed
*Structure advice projects to enable effective execution
*Understand and constructively challenge business requests while looking for additional business activities that may benefit from tax advice
Job Requirements:
*Bachelors degree required, Masters in Taxation or Legal degree preferred.
*To be considered for this position you must be a Licensed CPA or Attorney in Business Taxation.
*Minimum of 10 years experience in Business Taxation
*Deep knowledge and experience in U.S. transfer pricing.
*Deep knowledge and experience in direct tax law and practice across U.S. and multiple States.
*Experience on U.S. Downstream tax issues before governmental authorities and within the industry and professional organizations concerning tax matters.
*Strong understanding of corporate structure and governance processes.
*Broad experience in business taxation working for Oil and Gas multinational, or a professional firm in downstream issues
*State Direct Tax advisor to Downstream and Upstream clients, responsible for State tax oversight of business operations in the U.S. and any State tax implications of any cross border transactions.
